So, I can just apply some Gimp filters and play with contrast, highlights etc until I get a similar results? Because I wanted to redo painting-style some of the pictures of this castle in Rome without buying them from an actual painter or from someone with a much higher experience of Gimp than mine.

Volga2112, you can follow the steps that Dinasset says in the first post of this thread. Then, you can play so much as you want. I'm sure you will enjoy the process. :bigthup
