I have FX Foundry installed and I used to have a working copy of the script. Sadly the one I have, located at Filters > Script-fu > Animation > Letter Drop, doesn't work. I get a bad syntax error. I'll find a working copy.

Installing a newer version of the FX Foundry fixed it. It's a little big, but it's fun! I did have a problem with spaces between letters, so I put hyphens in the place of spaces. Then I created a transparent layer above all of the others and painted over the two hyphens that I didn't want. Then I moved it to the bottom layer position and did an overlay background. Problem solved! Also I adjusted the canvas size to make the text fit better.

I just downloaded Saul's script and the space problem is gone, however the hyphen and the apostrophe leave parts of the growing trail behind. Sort of artifacts, I guess.

The text procedures available at the time the script was originally written were somewhat buggy and I had to code around some problems (such as GIMP crashing when I tried to find the size of a space character). These problems now seem to be fixed and I look forward to recoding things without my workarounds (which probably don't play well with the fixed PDB text procedures).

Your coding skills are still way better than mine. It took me a long, long time to write my 60's text script (my most difficult). But I am still learning and studying. Your scripts have certainly helped me to understand coding in Scheme. Years of programming helps, but trial and error still seems to suit me best. We all owe you a lot of thanks!

Saulgoode deserves a great deal of credit for his remarkable talent. I admire anyone that has the knowledge and ability to write scripts to that degree, and can put them out there for us all to benefit by.

In fact, I admire and appreciate all you script writers out there that bring these Gems to us..RobA, Fencepost etc.......

You can download the xcf also. I did create a newer road texture too here.



At least i think that's the new one. Just open it in Gimp, edit/copy edit/paste as new pattern
name the pattern and to use it just right click the pattern in your pattern menu and select open as image.
This way you can cut each piece of the road as you like.I made the pattern pretty big for that purpose.It's not a seamless pattern by any means.

Or did you mean the GIMP CHAT 3-D image?
That i made in 3-D Text Commander. I basically work in Flash so i bought this program for it's ability to quickly render 3-D spinning, or non animated text in SWF format.It also creates some very nice looking PNG, and GIF animations.
