I really like that, OMG! Again, you get the glass so shiny and clear. I'm still working on that. How did you blend the colors? Did you use gradients?

Pat625 - thanks Pat; yes this one was actually a 'quickie'. I used paths to create the pattern, then stroked all those paths using Ofnuts plug-in to use as an easy selecet 'template'. Then I selected all the individual segments for one BRL pass of clear glass and then just used a 'radial' gradient for each of the four glass rings.

One gradient was Anmal's Moody Rainbow and the others were ones I made myself using 'Sample Gradient Along a Path'; it's a brilliant , easy to use script from 'RobA' and you can download it from ...

EDIT: Pat, I thought I would try something new and (as it turns out) much harder - cut/etched glassware from scratch; got a result playing with a few GMIC filters but obviously a lot of room for improvement in both knowledge and technique ...

excellent new attempt OMG, but pay attention to perspective when drawing glasses: the bottom side should be more "curved" to be perfect.

Dinasset - thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I did incorporate curved paths for both top and base of the tumbler and even used the 'curve bend' filter for both 'etched' patterns. But you are right, what actually came out at the end was too flat ... oh well, it just presents me with another challenge

Pat625 - I have not yet researched to see if there are any tutorials for this particular subject, but I will do so.

EDIT: ... located an old 2006 tutorial on Pinterest by Kward1979UK, that produces 'etched glass' using two of his scripts, still available on Deviant Art/Gimp Talk. I seem to vaguely remember some references recently elsewhere in this forum to this person's scripts ...??

Anyway I tried them out and here is the first result ...

Pat, if this is the type of 'clear shiny glass' effect you are seeking, I'm happy to send you my XCF files for you to examine and play with. I also included a BRL settings 'screen shot' in one of them and both have various 'selectable' backgrounds by making different layers visible.

You have completed another beautiful, unusual creation. I would love to see how you get the glass looking so clear. Thank you! I'll study the .xcf files and hopefully I will improve.

I'm also glad that you both convinced me to keep this thread going, as I am having a play now with those 'etched glass' scripts from Kward1979UK. Using those and some simple post processing extends the GIMP 'glass effect' paradigm even further!

OMG, thanks for your efforts, but it's not a question of my taste, it's a question of perspective rules: still in the new drawing the bottom side is not enough curved (it must be more curved than the upper one).
