I did this one in silver metal and red glass. I used Lyle's shell also. OMG, I like the look you gave around. Is it engrave or something like that?

Issabella - they are very nice outcomes and I really like the second one with its combination of glass/diamonds set into the metal. Also thank you for your nice comments.

Actually I am on a voyage of discovery through GMIC right now and that metal backgound (looks a bit like pewter) started off as simple cleargem BRL glass! Then using a number of GMIC>contours>local orientation outcomes and some Samj filters in combination I ended up with the metal look. There is another but different example of this approach in what were orignally 8 clear glass mounds in between the 'legs' of the star. Unfortunately I did not document it well at the time but it is all reproducable I am sure.

I am also creating some GIMP patterns from glass backgrounds I am making at present - more experimentation!. The one below uses one of your favouirites, angled carbon blended with beaded carbon in clear glass with a branch/leaf pattern in there too - all experimentation but lots of fun. I call it 'bone, gold leaf and glass' ...

This GMIC stuff is rather powerful - love it; so here is another experiment ...



All coming from a clear glass BRL gum leaf, we now have from L to R in row 1, a spotted dark glass leaf, a gold leaf, a patterned glass leaf. Then in row 2 we have silver metal leaf with copper highlights, the original glass leaf, then a cast iron version all set into a distressed wooden case.

Exploring and learning go hand in hand so I worked out how to turn those glass and metal gum leaves into brushes -



... they can make pretty wreaths by stroking a path in a variety of combinations ...





So I attached the brushes just in case anybody would like to use them ...

Thanks for the Gum Leaves OMG. I tried stroking a path but something went wrong and I don't know how to fix it. It uses the gradient for some reason instead of the brush colour. Any idea what could be wrong?

check to have "Dynamics Off"

(too lazy to change the brush on each letter....)

But if I turn Dynamics off how do I keep the brush going the right direction?

Kimba - Dinasset obviously beat me to it, but my approach would be to start with a 'clean slate', so yes turn Dynamics Off.

Then set 'Track Direction' on and set 'Spacing' to a desirable setting for whatever result you are seeking. They were the only 'dynamics' I used in my path stroking for the wreaths above.
