Issabella (and Pat belatedly) - I have tried to replicate those glossy images I posted previously and the following image is an example. I propose doing the tut based on this, but it is a sensitive operation and different colours/parameter values will produce quite different results (I think!!). The process allows/supports a lot of exploration and variation.

Thank you my GIMP friends for your quick responses - tut is now in progress. But in the meantime, I took a break from text in glass (pun :roll:

) and played with gold metal instead -

Pat - cannot remember (senior's moment!); I'll look it up for you!

EDIT - Pat ...OK, it was Freestyle Script for the text; then BRL using the standard Golden gradient and then the 3D Extrusion filter.

It looks good, but it's sort of like you overrrided colors vividity. And mildly the textures. But the rest is genial.
