Following on from Peter's artistic animal posts, here is the gold brush tailed possum. Unfortunately (for them) their golden colour is a mutation and because they are nocturnal forest dwellers, it can be seen easily at night by their predators.

Nasty, them mutations, when they're bad, but such is nature: Only the fittest survive.
Not related, but similar is the climate changes over here. We get less snow than usual now, but our hares still get all white during winter... and no snow. Guess who's suddenly extremely visible?
