I think the strings worked better on 'something robotic to play with'. Not many would guess this was a rose :)
To me it looks like a crystal-type structure.

I was actually going to do a crystal rose, Tas; decided not too. As for color, it is, more or less, a white (well, a bit of pink) rose already so not much color. Indeed, I did grain merge the original onto just the strings and desaturated for the bulk shadowing effect. :)
