Too lazy to share the technique, but it does involve masking and it's uses so most here can figure it out. :)

Whoops; forgot that you can't see the hirez if you are not a member (which is free by the way; Stock Exchange is one of the kings of image stock by the way; been using this site for years for reference images). Anyway, below is a thumblink where you can at least see what the original looks like. :)

I imported, using an evil skull image masked and bump mapped. RetouchPro has this video tutorial (pay to view) that features a skilled graphic artist who converted a normal pic into a zombie. I didn't pay to watch the video, but the preview gave me the idea to do this with the pumpkin. It's far simpler than any of us could imagine. Just a tad time consuming. You take your face picture and insert it above the pumpkin layer. Bump map the bottom pumpkin layer with the evil skull image, and use the top skull layer to peel away the excess (using fuzzy brush). The face layer is colorized orange and on overlay mode. I added the tongue myself, using an additional scaled basketball texture layer. Something tells me there is even an easier way to do this, I just haven't discovered it, yet.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Freakingnews has the pumpkin pic available in their contest, found here:

The evil skull image, I just grabbed this one from a google search "evil skull":

I'd love to see the rest of you give it a "stab". (Pun intended).

I thought of signing up with sxc.hu til I saw they wanted my address and phone number, and that's a deal breaker for me. I get enough junk mail and "survey" calls as it is. I figured I could put fake info in but was too lazy to even think about it.... :gaah

I did the same thing. They could only want that info for nefarious purposes. :evilgrin

I never remember giving them my phone number when I joined; only my email address. They must have changed their policy (but I must have been grandfathered in). Oh well. Lots of cool stock images to play with, but I mainly only play with them when others link to them (like at RetouchPRO). :)

*sniff sniff* It's nice to feel so much love (wipes teary sparkling diamond eyes).

Good job, Molly. I wish I could get into the animation spirit like the rest of you. I actually tried to, using APNG, and then sort of balked at the file sizes.
