This was a lot of fun. I started out using images of a chain and dog tag, and decided "what the heck, be an artist, and make your own image". So, here is my first draft at mimicking stamped font (using Rob A's Chisel script).

@Molly: the fine print on making a tutorial needs to be larger (I didn't see it the first time I read it, haha). I'll try to create a tutorial to follow, soon.

@Rod: I think the gradient is part of the GIMP package (named "metallic something"). That's the actual name, not me guessing.

Yes, I made the chain, too. I created a brush of the one chain and ran it on stroked path. I'll try and get a tutorial up for it soon (maybe Sunday).

Like the tag Mahvin; really does look realistic. As a side note, I recently visted your site (don't know why I haven't before) and do like that 3D gear tut that you have there too.

Didn't O make a bead brush? That would work awesome for this tut. =)

Would someone be interested in trying the Chisel script on my dogtag, with the same settings as in mahvin's tute? I have tried it too many times to count. I merged the two texts, tried them one at a time. Finally came to the conclusion it is just my pc or me...

All I did was blur the newly formed chisel layer after running the chisel script, about 7 px. You can check the layer modes. I probably said "blur the text layer" but I meant the new layer created from the text "after" you run the chisel script. Not the original text layer.

wow that looks really good. I will try to do it again they way you said. If it doesn't work then it has to be my GIMP somehow.
