Thank you very much for sharing this Graechan. :)
I normally just use Aurora Midnights gtkrc file or my own neon gtkrc because i can just throw it in the gimp-2.8 folder and it works. But this could be very fun , and interesting to play with. :)

I went to view the YouTube video that you suggested as "step 1" and this is what was there...

Is this video anywhere else?

I've downloaded this and put the folder inside my username/gimp2.8/themes.

Hi Graechan

I'm confused about the directions that say:

2/ at the top of your gtrc file inside the folder you will find a place to name your theme

3/ rename your folder to match your theme name in part 2

I can't find the place to name the theme. I think it might be Metal'n'Stone but when I name the folder that it still doesn't work. I searched and found the folder from preferences themes in gimp.

I'd like to get a darker theme to help rest my eyes a little.

You can check out this link... http://thegimp.ca/gimp-2-8-dark-theme-lastend/
You might find something there you like.

Thanks Wallace

I downloaded and followed the instructions and the theme works great. I'll be saving lots of energy on this wide screen monitor now.

It works on my Win 7 64 bit computer.

I do see one problem with this Theme. I wonder if anybody knows how I could change the dark color of the curves dialog back to the white with a grid. Or maybe dark with a white grid.

You're welcome Pegleg44. :bigthup
That's great! There are more "Dark" themes there to chose from.

If the theme provides images. You may be able to find the one that corresponds with the dialogs that you can edit.
I'm not an expert at this though. Maybe someone else can help out with this.

Ah yes, some of the other dark ones have very nice color schemes. I think I'll use the AeroIon. Wow that's a good one. Contrasts and everything is very good. It seems to have roundish like buttons.

Thanks Man!

Here's a screenshot of the curves:

Hey yeah!
That's a pretty cool looking theme. I'll have to grab that one.

I'm not totally sure but I don't think this one is included with the download pack. It might be worth a look, I find it easy on my eyes. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7222
