A festive sparkle texture - desaturated gold from wallpapercave.

Colors can be applied quite nicely with one of the color modes - such as LCh Color.

I periodically browse Wikipedia Commons images for inspiration using the search term 'abstract painting': There are some very useful sources of ideas for turning into font faces when custom font making. I have never been able to fathom out which type of canvas will work well in advance - some just don't 'take' in the conversion process from art to font.

To save time I have started to use the artworks (all are under a creative commons license) first with a restricted set of characters and then, if I like the result, try creating my own abstract background on a similar theme for use with a full custom font.

Here are some of the recent part font results:
