I like Warrior's and Wallace's examples too, but this thread is about Gimp resources. Here I took Wallace's chrome E-map and reduced the saturation to get what I think is a better outcome on a custom butterfly shape I made.

Warrior, If you added a laymode you should also add a preview without the layermode so that people have a good idea of what the actual emap creates without added effects. Cheers!

Just incase their missing, I found some wooden textures online and made these emaps.
I also tested them out for you.

Oh, and you might want to practice changing the settings to get the detail of the texture. Unfortunately I didn't.
