A few weeks ago, I worked through a group of errors that were occurring at Gimp's startup and found what I think is a solution. I found a thread in the GIMP HELP section that included one or more of the errors I was receiving and posted my solution to that thread. Weeks later, that thread is not yet marked as [SOLVED] and I'd like to find out what the procedure is get those bracketed words displayed on the Thread's header.

The thread in question: "Unsolved Error Messages" viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16019. There are other threads on the site that list similar errors that can be fixed with the solution I propose. The ultimate fix will require a change to the Plug-in Install EXE that is copying an invalid DLL in the Plug-In folder, that seems to cause both long delays at start-up and copious quantities of errors, also at startup, as well as causing some plug-ins to not work at all or not be recognized as installed.

I did search the FAQ section for an answer but none of the sub-categories seemed helpful. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough. Or perhaps my solution isn't valid. A curious Canadian Gimp-infested brain wants to know.

Hi RaveRocks,
Currently,
there isn't a way within Gimp Chat's website interface,
that will allow the [SOLVED] designation or mark to appear in a thread's title.
The [SOLVED] make,
needs to be placed into the title by the creator of the thread or Original Poster,
or added by one of Gimp Chat's Moderators/Admin,
through editing of the thread's title.
The OP for this thread is Gimp Chat member Norseman143.
I can send this member a privet message,
asking if their thread was indeed solved.
If this is so,
I can ask the OP to add the [SOLVED] mark to this thread,
or I can edit the title myself to add solved mark.

Wonderfully logical! And it will work if the original poster regularly logs into the site and checks their posts for replies. My experience with single product Help websites is that many error reports originate with single visit users who have a limited interest in joining a community. They just want one question answered and once they find the solution (sometimes from another website), they never come back or only return when they experience another issue. Ditto with users who sign up with a temporary throw-away email address that they never check for replies or they've changed ISP's and no longer have access to a previous ISP's email server.

As the workaround solution that I've come up with is conditional to having installed a specific file from the sourceforge website, GIMP_Extensions_v2.8.20150403.EXE (which I believe is also available as GIMP_Extensions_v2.8_latest.EXE), I've tried unsuccessfully to leave a message on their site about the cavalcade of errors the EXE causes when installed. The errors listed in the original post do NOT occur if the extensions are NOT installed and the errors stop as soon as the extensions are uninstalled. Hopefully, that shouldn't be too difficult to confirm without the original poster's involvement if they are missing in action. If we're really lucky, the sourceforge Gimp group will have already replaced the bad install file by the time I've finished typing this sentence and then all this is moot.

The only other suggestion I have,
would be for you to submit a Bug Report to bugzilla.gnome.org,
if this isn't something that you haven't already done.
