The GC account resource allocation on the server is corrupt again. It's showing zero bytes of memory has been allocated to the account, which is impossible.

The last time this happened, they said it was a python problem on the server. I assume there is a python script that controls an account's resource allocation in the cloud.

I've submitted a trouble ticket. Hopefully, they will get to it soon.

I've been busy this week and have only now made it back from a client's location.

We will just have to limp along until they fix it.

I have been getting an error that says Resource Limit Is Reached but when I can get to the site (pretty much 98% success rate; so the error can pretty much be removed with a refresh), it's been quite responsive for me anyway Tux. Also, I usually host big files elsewhere since I don't want to take up your space so that's probably why I've not experienced the size error issue.

Lyle, we aren't supposed to have any space issues. Storage space is not a problem on this account.

The slow speeds are due to the GC resource allocation profile being corrupt. Once that is fixed and we are given back our slice of the pie. speeds will return to normal.

I didn't want to overburden your storage and that's the reason I usually host using other sources not to mention I sometimes share my madness elsewhere too.

Well, the "deal" on GC is that you can only see the image you upload, when you're on GC or in a direct link from your browser. Unlike 3rd party image/file hosting sites, like flicker, images uploaded to GC can't be embedded on other websites and there are file size limits on uploads.

I was just reading the host's Service Announcements log and they are now saying that the server had a power supply failure around noon today. I guess that is when our profile got tRaSHed.

So, in the last two weeks, they've supposedly replaced 2 hard-drives and a power supply. I guess that old server is falling apart.

If we have any more problems, I think I'm gonna request that we be moved to another server. It's kind of a gamble to server hop so I'm leery about doing that.

That was the reason my simplysignage.com site went bonkers. I did not request the server move,but they said they had some bad servers so they moved my site to another one and that was it for my site.I couldn't log on to the admin panel and they wouldn't answer my tickets so i dropped them. Been with APLUS.net for 1 year now and no trouble at all.

I register all my domains with aplus.net but I've never tried their hosting service.

GC & GS do use resources during peaks times so they can't be on a "run of the mill" shared server. We require more power than that, which we have. However, if the server is constantly failing and the resource config is being trashed, we're getting screwed.

The reason you see the RSS message is because I've placed gimpscripts.com into maintenance mode, where it will remain until the server issue is fixed.

The fix would take 1 minute but it appears there are no staff to look at the problem. We can only wait until someone decides to handle the ticket.

If I do end up moving to a new webhost (which is looking more likely) , GC will be offline for several days while the migrations occurs. If I pull the trigger on that, I'll give a heads up before it happens.

Just an update on where we stand with the GC server issues. The host seems unwilling or unable to fix the Cloud Linux resource allocation problem (LVE).

I've submitted several tickets over the last 48 hours and they have gone unanswered or the answer has been "Sorry, we are aware of the problem and working on it". I'm not really interested in any more excuses.

I expect these kinds of critical issues to be resolved in a timely manner, but for whatever reason, they are not being addressed. I'm really left with no choice but to make the move to another host.

I've obtained a Virtual Private Server from a well respected webhost and I'll be moving gimpscripts.com over first, just to ensure there are no issues with the host. This means that gimpscripts.com will be offline for several days during the migration. If all goes well, I'll move gimpchat.com to the VPS.

I didn't want to do this but I'm left no choice. Migrating to another host is a lot of work and many problems could arise, so bear with me and be patient, as I make this transition. I'll keep you guys & gals updated on the progress.

After all the back and forth, the host has finally fixed the LVE issues on GIMP Chat. Our speed and resource allocations have returned to normal, at least for the time being.

I don't have much confidence that GC will remain fixed but it would be just my luck to move ahead with a new host and a new server, just when everything gets back to normal.

I have 30 days in which to decide whether or not to keep the new VPS so I suppose I should just wait and see what happens before I proceed too far down the line.

I'm still pretty upset that the support has degraded to the point it has with GC's webhost. I really don't want to go though this kind of major hassle again the next time something breaks. We will just have to wait and see how it goes over the next 30 days.

Seems to be pretty stable now Tux. Once in a while it gets real slow but that could be my PC.

Yes, so far so good with fix from the old host. I must say that after the last two weeks, and seeing all the trouble others are having there, I've lost confidence in them. I think they might be on their way out. It would surprise me if they were able to turn things around.

I've migrated Gimp Scripts over to the new VPS and I must say that so far, I'm impressed with the speed and flexibility of the VPS.

One nice thing about the VPS is that I have full root access and control over the server, with the ability to reboot it remotely, if need be. Even though I have to secure, maintain and update the software, I like having total control and not having to wait for someone else to fix any issues that might arise. It's running CentOS, which is Fedora's cousin, so feel right at home.

I submitted two support tickets during the migration and my questions were responded to within 5 minutes, by excellent and knowledgeable staff members. It might just be the best support I've ever received from a webhost.
