Lyle did you set your processors in Gimp Enviroment or did it detect them?

@Carlos
With 64-bit operating systems standard these days, and RAM dirt-cheap, upping the memory ceiling on Windows PCs is mostly a matter of choosing 8, 12, 16, or more GB.
Got to remember too that graphics, photos and music use a lot of memory.

Didn't know you had to do so Odin; GIMP works fine, but I'll do some more digging to make sure I get the most out of my system and GIMP.

Tried to un-install/re-install PS but still cannot get updates so I give up. lol

Now, I need to hit the sack for a bit for my next night shift. Take care. :)

It's not a requirement to set the number of processors used but Gimp defaults to one and I think you mentioned you have 8. Gimp will be more efficient if you take advantage of that by increasing the default.

I set the processors to 4; leaving a few additional ones for my VM, and other things. No need to be too greedy. lolol

:)

Sorry for digging this thread up again, but I now realize how much I lost. I lost all of my tutorial editing links (so I can't update them anymore) for starters. Man, I wish I would have did a more serious job of backing up my data. Also, all of those give-away-of-the-day cool utilities that I've collected over the years are now all gone. Oh well; just had to spiel. I guess life goes on. Hope GAOTD offers some of those utilities back again soon. :)

IIRC, GOTD recycles a lot. I have seen the same programs offered more than once. Takes a long time, though.

Thanks for the concerns and yes, I know GAOTD recycles a lot of cool programs so now it's a waiting game. lol
