A very nice and sharp picture. I bet you didn't have nearly as much difficulty getting it as I had getting mine.
Well, I have 4 other pics of the very same subject, and I may have trashed some more :)

My camera is 4 MPix and the resolution has been more than adequate. At the time I bought my camera, the high end DSLRs were in the 10-12 MPix range.
Those days 8MPix is a minimum.

I really miss two things that a DSLR provides:
  • Being able to do things through the viewfinder with the back of the camera held firmly against my face. That is a much steadier configuration than having the camera waving around at the end of your arms.
  • Lens speed. My 35mm had an f1.2 lens, I think my point-and-shoot is f2.6. And the f-stop range on the camera is rather narrow.

For 1) bridge cameras can be held like DSLRsn using the EVF. Also a good thing for us old gits getting far-sighted, since, while the rear screen can't be used without glasses, the EVF can. For 2) be aware that the standard kit issue with DSLRs is a f/3.5-5.6 lens but of course if goes up to f/22. Compact cameras have diffraction problems that limit the aperture, on some going from f/5.6 to F/8 is not done by closing the diaphragm but by adding a neutral density filter!

I probably took 8 pictures just to get that one. :(

I hadn't noticed that. Zoom lenses always had smaller apertures than fixed focal length lenses, but with the high ISO sensitivity of digital cameras, the lens speed isn't as important any more. And a zoom lens is a great general purpose lens.

I didn't know that either. I just checked and mine has an iris diaphragm. I could see close and open when I moved it in and out of the light. :)
