i download and use tons of images and take care of credits for me is a nightmare,

i wonder if there is some trick, when saving image from a browswer to automatically embed in the image proprieties the image link...so if i will ever use i will have just to open "propriety" to find the original image link and hopefully its author name

is something similar possible ?

Irfanview allows you to write IPTC info into jpegs, but you still have to have a program that can read that info and give you the links from it. I do this on certain canned images that I use over and over again so I won't forget where I got the original. Still no know solution for you though PC. :)

i was hoping was somerthing as a firefox (or crome or opera ) extension to do it

baically is as

download the image
bookmark the page
embed the bookmark (i don't mind how, if as exif, or in the image propriety )

i suppose other should badly need something alike is really time wasting recover images links

As GIMP has an "Open Location" option that can download images from the inter-web directly, it would seem to be relatively easy difficult to script the process to prompt a user for the location, download the image, then embed the location into the image.

Kevin

update: It's becoming difficult because GIMP doesn't embed comments into JPEGs in a way that Window$ will read.

i see..
maybe a similar script may call a plugin, as "RIOT save for the web" that may do at least for jpg embedding as exif data ?

Just a blind guess i am not sure that a internet link may be added to or replace the content of exif, and if yes i am neither that save for the web may do the the edit i wish

Another way may be instead then embed,"Save as"+ "Add the link as prefix" to the image name.
that will work for any image (if the file name is not too long and do not contain "critical" characters, also in this case i don't know the limitation

basically a script that do not require a image opened, but that may be used to download save and rename any image from the web

There is a Firefox plug-in: Save Images that does that automatically. It will bulk save all images or just images in the current tab, using the URL as the filename (or will split into folders based on image URL).

How are you getting the Save Images firefox plugin to automatically change the image file name to the url? Do you have to put in an expression? What do you guys recommend for also creating a thumbnail?
