I read that People online posted it erroneously! Seems he is quite ill, however.

Yes, one of the Penn St news agencies reported via Twitter that he had died. CBS reran the story. Then Paterno's son tweeted that he was not dead, but was in very serious condition. Confirmed by Paterno's publicist. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in November.

This morning they were saying that his health totally went downhill since his firing. Seems like a double whammy...being faulted for past actions and being fired plus having the cancer.

Yeah, these coaches that pour everything they have into a team usually don't last long when they retire. Bear Bryant died a month after stepping down as head coach of Alabama.
