A couple of Saturdays ago I went to the park to watch my friend's band play and it seems these Canadian goslings enjoyed it as well. :)

erisian: very idyllic - daisies, downy little goslings and reflections in the water. i don't like thinking of what the canadian part of the audience leave behind in the grass though and i demand to know what kind of music it was.

Thanks both. The music was a mixture of punk and reggae.

Nice picture Erisian.
For the last month or so there has been a pair of Canadian geese wandering around (they must be molting) my neighborhood, even though there are two large parks close by. There's hardly any traffic on my street, other than people walking, so they seem quite happy where they are.

AnMal, Your right they are messy bugger's.

erisian: a mixture of punk and reggae sounds great for a sunny may afternoon! i am a bit jealous, i want to sit in the grass (on a blanket in the grass, so i'm a little bit protected from spiders and bugs and stuff, and far enough from the canadian guests that i don't get my blanket dirty) and hear bands playing too but all i get is staff education days. hmph, not fair!

odinbc: :hehe the little town where i went to crafts and design school got a lot of canadian geese in the spring and they were nice to watch, but you had to step carefully on the river walk when they were around... and once there was a canadian goose that went a bit crazy and started attacking people - no one understood why. must be some strange canadian thing ;)

They will attack people if they have their young ones around.
Same as mother hens.

I grew up on a farm. My Dad decided to get a dozen or so geese, for some reason. They never bothered me but it's a little intimidating for a 4 year old when your surrounded, nose to beak with them. From what I remember, they didn't last long! :)

I laid carefully on the grass a short distance from them and used a zoom.

I met a number of old friends from the 1980s and they kept giving me drinks. It was a great afternoon.

in the case i described there were no eggs or goslings around and the self-acclaimed experts among the locals said it was a male. not sure if they were right about that, though, because i know nothing about birds :).

The male is the prettier colored one. They like to strut their stuff.
