Hi guys! Remember me!!!!

The reason why I haven't been on for the last 2 years, it's cos I have been doing a lot of commission work with graphite pencils.

I wonna learn something new now! Got ichy fingers lol. But I need a Bamboo tablet for what I want to do. I had tried many times installing fur brushes but for some reason they keep saying errors in file on my zipped files. I have an up to date Gimp with built in Python. I've had it some time now.

I can't remember how to make your own. Oh my I'm getting old lol

So this afternoon I'm off to town to treat myself to a Bamboo

Hi Erisian! i'm not hot on technology. I had tried putting them in the brush folder but It's the zip error! The system I'm using is an OS windows7 But I had no trouble installing brushes on the old Gimp version. Maybe I need to un-install the new one and install the old one.


Molly you are right with the tablet. I did had one but the pen broke on me:(

I guess I am not crazy after all. Are you talking about the nib, I know they can be replaced with plastic twine used in weed eaters. Cant you buy pens separately?

No it was the pen it self. Something was wrong inside of it! Well it dosen't matter as I have a new tablet to play with

This is a silly question but..From reading your posts...Are you extracting the brushes or just pasting the zip file?
Also if you try to extract a zip file directly in to your brushes folder in windows & you get an error, and you have to install them in the gimp folder in your username folder. (At least I do, it doesn't work if I install in the GIMP folding in program files).

What kind of drawing do you do with pencils?
Do you have a dA or a Photobucket??

I think it might be that what you said there (the folder), look in the search for .gimp-2.8 that folder is where I put the brushes in the "brushes" sub folder.

Thank you guys. Mokonafan I had tried that and it's still saying errors in zip files. Even when I extract them in the brush folder.

Are the zip files opening? Can you see the gbr files inside them? What does the error message say?

I'm nor sure which brushes you are trying to download, but if it's off deviantART you could ask the maker why their .zip isn't working. And here is a fur brush by ChrisF, he's got many other brushes too if you are interested.

Mokonafan I had put the link in the brush folder and refreshed it. I can't use it as it's not on the brush list in gimp when you open it.


Erisian This is what I keep getting.

The only thing I can think of is either WinRAR needs updating or the zip file is corrupt. You might need to download it again or try downloading it from a different source. I wish I could help you further but I think you need somebody with more technical knowledge than me.

If your rars are downloading to your download folder, try right clicking and click extract here.
A folder should extract from the zip with the same name, open that and see if your gbr or your brushes are in that folder, if so place them in your C:\Documents and Settings\lorri\.gimp-2.X\brushes
