Most here are designers, but are there any web developers here?
Just curious...

I'm very familiar with PHP, SQL, Javascript, CSS & HTML and occasionally take on website development projects for clients, as well as doing a lot of work on my personal websites.

I'm taking a stab at web design in Inkscape backed by GIMP for photomanip and elements that can not be designed using vectors (which are delightfully few).
Will post some samples here once we go live. It's for our premium range cases, and is looking pretty astounding so far... actually much.better than I had figgured it would moving from PhotoShop to GIMP. Im very excited! Lol.

The reason I'm doing it in inkscape is for scalability, and the fact that you can create clones of objects like link buttons, and subsequently any change you make to one is applied to all. Also, the ability to select an object and export JUST that object (with full transparency) with one action is just worlds ahead of what can be done in Photoshop (the program I used to use for it). I can also link in full-res versions of images from GIMP, and use the same images with vector elements to create magazine adverts at 300dpi without any extra work. Makes for a very fast, unified look that is important for branding.

Actually there are quite a few of us here that do this sort of thing. :)

I'm the technical administrator for about a dozen message board forum based websites which use either phpbb, vBulletin, XenForo, or InvisionPowerBoard. Many are also fully integrated with WordPress or ccBill or other plugins. And it's not even my real job. :D

I have been a web developer for 15 years. I have always enjoyed the aspect of writing codes to make them do something. I think staying passionate and motivated keeps you going in any field.
