Hi, all. I'm fairly new to GIMP and am trying to use it to enhance a Facebook cover photo for a business. The image, which I've saved as a .png file on my computer, looks just fine before I upload it to Facebook. However, after I upload it, it looks blurry and I'm trying to fix that. The image is below.



I'd welcome any advice on making the photo look the best it can before I upload it to Facebook. Thanks for any help!

Facebook is known to recompress images it finds "too big".... so your perfectly fine image can be butchered. Your best bet is to upload an image that FB will find small enough while still of acceptable quality for you. That would be a JPG of course, and I suggest to use the strongest chroma subsampling (hardly noticeable and huge effect on file size) and trying to keep the quality above 85.

Also make sure that the image pixel size matches the Facebook specs to avoid on-the-fly scaling in the browser.

If png file size > 1Mb, it will convert to jpg
