coin art with the gimp

FWIW, I've been using the gimp for nearly 20 years (give or take) now and strangley enough I have a large collection of work I'd done with the gimp over the years.

Of late, I had done a lot of photography work with coins so, enjoy one or two samples

Cool photos of coins, with effects. I really like the proof coins., with the frosted cameo and mirrored background.

I've been collecting for years & I buy and sell coins online. I can never seem to capture the luster of the coins in my photos. My camera is cheap and I just can't seem to get the right lighting. I think I could get more for my coins in auctions, if only I could capture their true mint luster.

From what I know, is that if you have old coins and you do anything to alter them, they won't be worth anything. At the auctions they want them the way you found them.

That's right Molly. You never want to clean or polish your old coins. It affects their value. I have 120 year old Silver Dollars that look like they just came from the mint but I can never seem to get photos that do them justice.

ok, I see what you mean by taking a photo. maybe you could make one with your envir script like I did with my coins.
I don't have an expensive camera either, it was never my thing but there are some out there that would capture the shine, I'm sure.
