dont know what you want 2-ton, i think it looks pretty good !

what i would tweak is the way the texture is interacting with the E
either you reduce the opacity (or change the Mode)
or you filter the texture completely out of the letter with a layermask

making things look engraved is something i find hard too

he4rty did an extremely good job here:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7485

also here is a trick that i learned from my bumpmap experiments in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6202

i think it was saulgoode who explained that white on transparent BG is the same as white on black BG
BUT you can also use black on a white BG and that will reverse the effect (which is the same as 'invert bumpmap' in the bumpmap filter)

i didnt bumpmap.....used the bevel-shadow of layerfx and deleted the higlight, then added a stroke in a lighter grey and an inner shadow

I am not sure what post I put that pattern in akros but I think it was in conjagui's second last tutorial, the puffy text one, post #5 viewtopic.php?p=99365#p99365

Molly
I knew I had seen, but did not remember where. Without your tip I would give up looking.
Thank you! :tyspin :bigthup

AKROS
It is very hard to remember where you see things when there are so many posts. Happens to all of us.

It's one of my favorite backgrounds now, and it colorizes beautifully!

you can make your own custom background in hat style very easily

just paint with a large fuzzy brush big circles on your canvas in maybe three different colour
then run the G'MIC water filter on it

alternatively you might want to run the water filter on the result of a bokeh filter

thanks Akros :)

eperimenting what you can do with alpha-curve shaped gradients and stuff as the bump-map

radial gradient plus alpha-curve ring gives you speaker

dimpled gradient

G'MIC craziness: water filter with lots of fx added

esper: wow!!! i love those tweaks, the version with a green pattern inside it looks really cool and the "speaker" looks like very believable rough iron. i think this effect got so many hit sbecause it's such a simple technique for making something that lots of people try to make.

thank you AnMal, that may very well be the reason

i didnt expect the banner text tutorial to be popular, and its kind of simple as well

too bad only Akros and 2-ton gave the tut a try
