I've learned a lot from tutor4u. When I first picked up gimp I was like uh...so many things and how I make do anything. And it was very discouraging. I felt like such a derptard. So I parked gimp for a couple of years. I think this was vs 2.2 or some such. But I always had it installed because it did things and I never get rid of programs that do things.

So time goes by and I want to make a sig for a forum for a game I play and I'm like ohey I have like whatsitcalled...uh gimp (lol). And I went on a binge that's lasted for several months now. This guys tutorials and gimpknowhow is how I figured out how to do most things I do now in gimp. There are also a lot of good tuts on deviantart, where I went after I exhausted youtube. And now I'm here to mine your dataz for knowledges.

Oh yeah, akky. I'm subbed to GIMP Tricks too. I spend a lot of long nights not sleeping. I think I've seen just about every gimp video that can be found by clicking every 'related' link ever.

The fun part of this all I think is, gimp always makes it feel like I can create something from nothing. I've always wanted to artfully express myself. But I am teh suc with physical mediums. Like, I've tried to draw and model with pens and clay and the results were less than stellar. Always leaves me wanting and never looks like it did in the minds eye. And then I discovered digital art. Suddenly I have the tools and ability to make it look just like it was when I first envisioned it and even at the beginners level, the results can be astonishing.

These people that are making these tutorials are doing a huge public service to someone like me. Whether that's through inspiration or technical know-how, they are a very integral part of this community and in my eyes, essential to the success of GIMP.
