This is very cool, Thank you David. I got good results but was unable to post it. I optimized for gif and it still says file too large. drats!

I did mine at 30 frames then I duplicated frames 15 and 30 twice each so that it stops on each word.

Makes a lovely pattern if you set the background opacity to 0.

@eris,so how would that make the file smaller? by making more frames and then duplicating some, wouldn't it be larger? I tried it 4 separate times and it is still too large.

I cut the frames in half but I couldn't change the words. I got an error every time I tried to do that.

David is it possible to add choice of Font? (have GMIC grab the font loaded in Gimps font dialog)

2-ton i had to color to alpha each layer.I believe there is a script for this though.If not there should be.

Place the scm in your scripts folder , refresh scripts or restart Gimp, and you will find it under Colors>Color to Alpha All Layers

I put this one on a black bg so it is readable somewhat.I tried a animated png but it was overweight by 0.8 MB.

Sorry, I've only just seen your post. How many frames did you use? The default was set to sixty something and I thought that was what you tried.

Molly mine was set to 43 frames, and 19 still. 400x400 size.
