Butterfly Animation

I'm working on a little something in Tilly's Rose Garden...This will be used for something I hope...an idea....

Anyways...Here's a gif of the butterfly!
I've never animated a butterfly before so cnc is welcomed!

How cute. My only suggestion would be to have the wings flutter a bit slower, even if you have to add a few more frames.

The butterflies flutter at around 10 strokes/second...

The shadows and highlights make the wings look beefy but
exactly because of this I'm loving this animation.

@ofnuts - you cant flap beefy wings at this rate, they'll be torn apart

Hi Moko, I have a little vegie patch and the white butterflies (cabbage butterflies) , and any other butterflies do not seem to have a regular wing beat. They flutter and because of that they are sometimes called "Flutterbyes" (at least by my kids when they were young). Their wing movements appear to be random. I know you are an artist and as such you observe the subjects. When I look at butterflies, I see the random movement not the wing beat. I only see the wings catching light at certain moments so it seems that the butterfy changes position at random . Your butterfly does not reflect this.
I love your art, it is fresh and colourful. You have a beautiful somewhat simplistic style . Some may call it a naive style but I think you have a style of your own.
I do not really know how to fix your butterfly animation . Perhaps an offset position and different times between layers.

Could always insert a duplicate layer randomly (eg. frame 4 duplicate, frame 9 duplicate) and that would break the pattern.

moko: i (and erisian, who's right here next to me) both liked the animation as it is. i didn't want the fluttering slower. of course, wbool has a point about randm, but it all depends on what you're using the animation for, exactly - maybe randomness isn't worth the effort?
the butterfly in itself is as beautiful as usual, i agree with wbool that you have your very own style and it's a delightful style at that

In light of your comment AnMal, I have changed my opinion of the Butterfly Animation and now feel that no changes are needed or necessary. :bigthup

Typically you don't even see the butterfly flap its wings. It just sort of rematerializes in space at random. Try to take a photo of a butterfly in flight and you'll understand...
