GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 7 Home Premium
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
GMIC 1.5.9.0

GMIC window is often opening up bigger than my screen and I can not finish what I want to do because it goes down past the bottom of my screen. I have a small screen but I have moved the task bar up to the right so that isn't the problem.

Is this just a bug in this version?

SallyAnne,
I'm not an expert, but it seems that - once you have arranged your gimp window to the size you want to have moving the borders to shrink it - if you go to
edit-preference-tool option
and click save on exit, then OK
then you exit and reopen gimp, it reopens to your arranged size

try

You should be able to grab the corner of the G'MIC dialog and resize it to fit your screen. If the parameters of a selected filter do not fit your resized dialog, you should be presented scroll bars.

Also. ensure your preview size is not set too large in the Preview Size dropdown. You can set it to small or tiny, then resize G'MIC.

Doesn't happen all the time but a lot of the time.
When it happens, can I resize by doing it from the top, I have no bottom corner to do it with?

Opened up large again and will not resize from either of the top corners.

two things:
1 - did you verify you still have under Preferences..Tool Options "Save tool options on exit" still active (selected)?
2 - when the corner does not operate immediately try to use the border lines of the corner you see; assuming it's the top-left corner, pull down the top line till to the mid of the screen, then pull right the left border till to the mid of the screen; now use the Windows Move tool (click and drag on the top window greyed border, the one where "Gnu Image manipulation Program" is written) and see whether you can have the whole gimp windows inside your screen.
Then adjust as you like

This happens if you open a very large image. Try a new image at 640x400 and see if that helps.

Started happening actually after I changed preview to large. I have put it back on small and it is being good for now.
I have opened large images a lot (often showing fullscreen at only 18%) and it has never happened before, so I doubt it is that.
