Is it possible to do pseudogrey and B&W film emulation together?

I've tried converting the image to pseudogrey and then doing the film emulation, but colorcube analysis indicates that after the film emulation the image only has 256 greys intead of the higher number with pseudogrey.

Thanks

When you choose the b/w option, you need to pick use maximum tones and choose 1 (higher levels are experimental and not technically the definition of Pseudogrey). For more information on Pseudogrey, click link below. :)

Hi Lyle,

Yeah I've done that and have been able to convert the color image into a pseudogrey image, but I also want to perform the film emulation (e.g. emulate Kodak T-Max 400, Tri-X 400, etc). The Film Emulation scripts only convert to 256 shades, so I was wondering if there's a way to use the two together, to be able to emulate film in the conversion process but have the final result be pseudogrey instead of just 256 shades.

You can always try to set the G'MIC output to value on top of your original and blend to taste before Pseudogrey converstion, but this may not be good enough. :)

Hi Kevin360,

I've added a new option in the G'MIC filter Film emulation / B&W films to add the support for pseudo-gray. Now you can choose what level of pseudo-gray you want to use in your final image.

I hope this helps.
