I was running the testing - Iain Ferguson's savenoiseprint filter for the first time and got this

GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-image-resize':
Procedure 'gimp-image-resize' has been called with value '0' for argument 'new-width' (#2, type GimpInt32). This value is out of range.

GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-drawable-width':
Procedure 'gimp-drawable-width' has been called with an invalid ID for argument 'drawable'. Most likely a plug-in is trying to work on a layer that doesn't exist any longer.

GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-drawable-height':
Procedure 'gimp-drawable-height' has been called with an invalid ID for argument 'drawable'. Most likely a plug-in is trying to work on a layer that doesn't exist any longer.

GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-drawable-bpp':
Procedure 'gimp-drawable-bpp' has been called with an invalid ID for argument 'drawable'. Most likely a plug-in is trying to work on a layer that doesn't exist any longer.

Is it my gimp or something with G'MIC

I use version 2.8.10
and G'MIC 1.6.3.1
I used two photos that were not changed apart from one was denoised and I ended up with a transparent/empty canvas.

Thanks dinasset. I didn't post in G'MIC because I wasn't sure if it was gimp or G'MIC error. I tried again and the same thing happened.

Hey! about 'noiserelated' for what it's worth, for my 5-kronors. :)
Just for fun, add a nice "perfect! image, anything really.
New layer on top, black bg, Filters>Noise>HVS Noise (H=1,U=0,S=0,V=255) opacity 20% and flatten the layers.
Now try the Iain Fergusson's - Ms nlmeans c noise2 filter on that baby! with default settings.
Pretty cool and that one have no problems, can only get better with a little tweak. :)
Now off to try more filters. *poff!* ;)

The savenoiseprint filter is a 2 pass filter. The first pass creates a noise-print and writes it to disk. There is no output back to GIMP for the first pass, so you get errors if you don't have the GMIC set to create new layers.

Make sure you set GMIC to create "new layers"

thanks Iain, for recalling this important point
applied that point, but I get a new error
*** Error in ./iain_savenoiseprint/*local/*local/*if/*local/ *** Command '-o': gmic::fopen(): Failed to open file 'noiseprint.gmic' with mode 'wb'.
(G'MIC 1.6.4 pre)

edit: installed the new 1.6.5 pre of G'MIC, but same error

I don't know why this is happening. The file should be noiseprint.cimg

The first pass does take a while, and it is not obvious when it has finished, perhaps you are doing the second pass too early.

Thanks for the input Iain. I saw it was a two pass filter but only ever got to do one.
How do you set GMIC to create new layers? Forgive my ignorance but I thought it would be automatic/built in.

EDIT:-
Figured it out I think (Output new layers?)
Got this error then :(

In G'MIC below the preview you set input/output layers.

The filter expects two input images. A noisy one and a denoised version. It looks at the difference between them and tries to restore details the original noise reduction lost.

In gimp you need two layers, the noisy one on the bottom. In gmic set input to 'all' and output to 'new layers'.

Thank :) s. Finally worked out that I need to change input and output and didn't get any errors. Thanks again for your patience.
