Today I updated my G'mic from 1.6.2.0 [pre-release #0322150 windows 64-bit] to the current 1.6.6.1.

I updated because I was hoping that G'mic had reverted back to layer names that are a description of the filter used.

Now I not only have no layer names, but my favorite filters have disappeared. Eeeek! Is there a way to turn these features on or revert back to an old version that has these things?

I have G'MIC 1.6.6.1
If I go to "Output messages" I can set the option "Verbose (layer name)" and get the name of the filter used with all its options as layer name
For the preferred I click on the star which says "Add filter to faves" and I get it moved on top in the Fav set

Thank you dinasset. I am so glad the layer name option is there.

I had many favorites and didn't make a screen capture of them. I thought they would stay. :( I guess I will have to try and find them again.

TY again.

Thanks Dinasset, I didn't realise I could turn the Layer names on.

There is a file that contains your favorites that can be moved to a new location. I have had to do this before, but don't remember the details. The last time it happened, I just recreated a new favorites list.

I would like to know if there is a way to make layer names the default? Right now I have to set it every time I restart GIMP.

In G'MIC try a filter refresh, I think this also re-loads any user options (G'MIC FAQ: Custom Filters).

TY everyone. When I went to the user's gmic folder, the version was dated after I updated today. Maybe I will remember to grab a copy next time.

Could g'mic be programmed to ask if you want to back up favorites during the install?
