For anyone already using it: there's possibly an error on the wiki page, I've compared it to the matlab source example and it doesn't match (I hope I'm right!). The G'MIC version is updated now if you update filters

Don't thank me Molly; GC's the one to thank. Used it more than many times now to uprez images before rendering them (other forums; few here too).

GC, maybe do you have (or will have) an equivalent counterpart (reducing the image size)?
It would be nice.
For certain very looong running filters, I'm used to:
- downscale the image
- run the filter
- upscale the image back to its original size
Should it be possible, I would replace the standard scale down and up of gimp with this new algorithm.

Hmm interesting question, I'd have to do some reading before suggesting anything since I don't know much about the various issues with downscaling (moire effect and so on). Perhaps some parts of it could be applied, but it might turn out other methods are already good enough. All I do know is it will result in loss of information whichever method is used!

For now I'm still sorting out questions with the upscale anyway, it's turned out to be a rabbit-hole.

Thanks to David this is now included in G'MIC as standard, which means it can now be found under Repair > Upscale [dcci2x]. I'll be removing the old one soon!
