Jérome Boulanger, one active G'MIC contributor, has released a new filter for the GIMP plug-in users, located in 'Patterns / Periodic dots'. I'm sure there will be interested people here !
Here is how it looks :

And one result after blending with a base image (using blend mode 'shape average0') :

Just click on the 'refresh' button, and enjoy. Kudos to Jérome for his contribution ! :bigthup

I don't understand how you do that. I don't have a blend mode in my layer modes.

I feel like such a dummy. I'm not getting the nice sharp black image over the original one that you did, David. :(

What I did O :
- Periodic dots, with output mode 'New layer'
- Black & White / Stamp on the resulting layer.
- Layers / Blend (Shapeaverage0 selected) with 'Input -> All layers' selected.

I updated the filters so I could get to the Periodic Dots filter. I checked for samj's filters. There's a very long list of them in there.
