Why did you choose Gimp vs. Photoshop?

Gimp is good for some things. I have it because I can't afford the expensive photoshop.
Photoshop Elements is around $100. I may try that one later down the road. It's not advanced as adobe Photoshop but it can do some things..as i have read anyways.

number 1 is because I switched to Linux 100%
number 2 is I feel Photoshop is over-priced
But If i was still using windows I dont know what i would be using instead of Photoshop as there a quite a few Free apps to choose from including Gimp.
I do wish there were more paid for Linux apps as I think it would give more choice and maybe better quality. I would't be against a paid for Gimp version - maybe they could target it at pro users.

I prefer GIMP because it's versatile oh yeah and cheap.
Upgrades don't require a mortgage and everybody using it will freely share any knowledge or resource.
My question for Born2BeMild: Are you a sales rep for adobe? ;}

At systemX - if I was they will fire me after reading what I said abt photoshop being overpriced
