I don't think that's true of anybody. We all had a creative imagination as children and it's still in there somewhere. I think you just lack confidence in your ability. My advice is be a child on the canvas and play lots. :)

That's very sound advice, but can be difficult for some to put into practice. However, I feel it's the only way to go, for me at least anyway.

oh, don't worry about that. It's like a muscle: it gets stronger the more you exercise.

I've been so busy this summer what with my mothers' mold allergy that I have been way too mentally exhausted to experiment. But I know when I get back into it my brain will start to get lubricated again.

Just start playing about. Don't feel pressured to create an instant masterpiece. Don't even think you need to show us anything. Just Play.

you'll be surprised at what happens after a while.

Your not the first to ask me about that "rainbow"... I'm sorry to say that I had to give them the same answer I gave you.

Excellent stuff there Wallace :coolthup
Don't forget about your History panel. It's session only but can be handy if you want to pass on some tips! The only problem is GMIC's doesn't register individually. Not sure why?

Wow! Just got back from a Saturday's chasin' around to see all the spashes you posted Wallace. Incredibly talented stuff. I think the ribbon looking one is at the top of my list although several others could easily be a toss up. Nice work! Thanks for sharing. I may even have to steal a couple for my own use.

Don't get me wrong, but I don't understand what your referring to. I'm failure with GMIC, but I'm not sure what the other references are about.
Sorry for being such a newbie. :hehe

Sorry for being such a newbie. :hehe

He is referring to the 'undo history' dockable dialog.
By looking through that you can see the previous steps done up to your 'minimal number of undo levels' set in your 'environment' preferences.

Oh Yeah...

I didn't think of that, but I didn't save the xcf file for any of the splash screens I mad. Once I completed them I deleted the xcf files.
Even If I had saved them the history wouldn't be so complete that I would be able to create a tutorial from it.
I'll definitely keep this in mind for the future. The history is limited though, but it would tell me what I did in certain cases.
Thanks for clarifying that.

I made them in hopes that other might want to use them as their GIMP splash.
Be my guest Draconian, I'm also curious to know which ones you might use if any.

I posted a few a long time ago but they are kinda lame. I should probably try to make a couple now and see how they turn out.

While I like the branding Iron one, I didn't notice until it was too late that the shadows are all messed up on the wood panels and rivet heads. I also like the gif with the dial but got the darn thing off centered.

This is one I did more recently.

I like the design of your most recent one. It's given me an idea for my next GIMP splash screen design.

Thanks to both of you. I wish we could get folks to create and post more of these.

@Draconian, not a problem. I agree with you, but I didn't think anyone really cared. I guess that's not the case.

Wallace: your splash screens are amazing they are so individual, and thanks for allowing us to use them I've filched several and they are now in my splashes folder they are a welcome sight while gimp loads my favourite is the futuristic moon-rise it reminds me of a sci-fi novel I read many moons! ago by Larry Niven entitled Ringworld, and thanks again for letting us use them.
