Is gimp 2.6 still the most stable to use, i want to upgrade to the latest V. but I want to have the most stable also.

Since 2.6.10 (or was it 9), PSPI is, for the most part broken. There is a pretty good work a round using Shellout (requires Python) but I still prefer that PSPI would work. It still works with a few PS plugins, but I am disappointed that they broke PSPI. Still, there were bugs with earlier version of GIMP and I highly recommend sticking with the most current version.

2.6 is and will remain the most stable,till 2.8 will be out.
anyway i use mostly 2.7.3 just i take care to save often.

In my opinion 2.7.3 is very stable.
But Gimp-2.6.11 is the latest developer version that is considered stable for all platforms.
