Robert (at another forum that I frequent but not a GIMP site) shared this link with us there. Worth the read. The reviewer even mentioned our site; cool. He's been using GIMP for over 15 years so hat's off to him. Also, the guy's nearly 100 years old so it's cool that no matter what the age, the GIMP can be a joy to all. I wonder what Fred's monicker is if indeed he's posted here?

Hi, lylejk! Thanks for sharing this news. I read the 1st edition of this book (actually, got it in a local library). It was my second ever book on GIMP (after Akkana Peck's treatise).
It's a must read book.

I wish I was a book reader; I use to be (last book I read was Moon Shot), but lost the desire a decade ago (no need getting into personal details). I went throught he school of hard knocks and learned from sites like GIMPTalk/GIMPChat for most of what I learned, but, because of that way of learning, I know little w.r.t. Script-fu authoring. To be honest, I have no desire to learn that side of GIMP so sad for me. lol

I still find a lot of gold nuggets about GIMP and I've been using it since 2000 (or was it 2001; more regularly since 2002). I wonder if there are any local college course on the GIMP; worth a course if you ask me.

A bought the book from Amazon. It really is everything they say it is and I would recommend it to anyone.

A GIMP beginner will find that it's easy to understand and find a lot of basic information that can be used right away. The book is about v2.8 so it's right up to date. I had to smile at his description of the Cage Distortion tool. Quote: A fun distortion tool, but one that won't be covered here. It's of little use to new and intermediate users. Unquote. IMO it's of little use to anyone. It's not just for beginners though. There is a lot of very useful information in it for everyone.
