There a lot of people here with real artistic, talent. Sadly I'm not one of them but I would like to learn how to do simple cartoons as lesson aids. I want to learn to do it with Gimp or inkscape but all of the lessons/tutorials I've found are with pens, markers and paper. I tried to apply them to computer based systems but it didn't seem to work right. Ok enough babbling and on with the point. Does anyone know of a site either free or pay that I can get lessons OR does anyone know of any individual people who will teach it for a fee? I don't mind paying as long as I can afford it. Sorry I had to type this much to get to the point.

Now it's full of dirt, toothmarks, and dog slobber.
No more open minds or dogs for me.

Well, it's not exactly like taking a class, but searching through the tutorials on deviantART is always helpful. Keep in mind that casual digital art is still very new. You might have to convert some old school tutorials in your head if you can't find the digital equivalent.

Actually its as easy as creating a bunch of circles.
Then draw it in after you get the circles drawn.
My favorite way is to use the ink tool. This way i can either draw in white or black, and switch between the two at will. That way you always have a pencil with an eraser.

The main thing is to have fun with it.

(keep in mind i have no tablet yet)...so its kinda messy...

Just keep practicing with the ink tool, with a very small tip. and full opacity. =)
