It definitely does look promising Rod. Samj posted the special GIMP specific version of Linux as Virtualbox image with this feature in mind the other day, but, I've not tried it yet. :)

I gave up using the cage transform tool because for me it didn't seem to work well. That was in 2.8.4, I've since upgraded to 2.8.6 and was trying to bend some hair the other day and couldn't find a way to do it so in desperation used the cage tool again and Wow how much better is that now. It did a great job on the image I was working on. This new tool looks even better.
I guess we have to wait for the next version of Gimp to get the new tool or is there a way to get it before that?

Are you saying you had good luck with the cage tool in gimp-2.6.8, or did you use the cage tool from somewhere else?

Well I just tried it and didn't work well at all. I see no improvement from 2.6.4

Are they including this in version 2.9? I'm really excited to see this, looks so cool! :mrgreen:
(although I still want to try this first before getting too excited, the cage tool looked so awesome until I tried it myself xD)

Yeah I used the cage tool that comes with 2.8.6. I thought it might have been an upgraded version of the cage tool in 8.6 but if it's not they the difference in performance must be down to the upgraded PC that I'm now using - loads more memory and a multi core processor. I did try it on another image, quite a big one but can't remember the size, and it works pretty fast on that one too. The new N-point deformation tool looks a lot better though, can't wait to get me mits on that one.

I am not sure when it will be included with a GIMP version. Can anyone read the tool options for the new tool? Most of it is kind of blurry too me.

From the best that I can tell these are the tool options with Show Lattice being the top most one.

0 Scale.

@Rod,

Go to the end of page 3 and read my experiences.

It's not even in the git.gnome.org list.

Gerard.
