....to the latest Gimp - 2.8.10
Only just found the beautify filter in Filters. I cannot see anything like it in this version yet.
Came in handy especially for making photos look great. Have I overlooked where it is?

Beautify isn't a default GIMP plug-in. :)
If you kept your old resource folders (.gimp-2.8/plug-ins) , it should still be under Filters>Beautify.

I don't remember installing it seperately before. Is there somewhere I can get it from Rod?
Oh and I never deleted 2.8.6. vs 10 seem to have gone over it.
Edit: Think I have found it

Ok I found it on the net through a search on here. Downloaded it and unzipped it but it contains 'only applications' for beautify, border and skin whitening. How do I install them? Do I put them in the gimp plugins folder or?

Yes they go in the plug-ins folder. They are all windows binaries.

I had it when I was using Windows, and I had to download and install. No version of Gimp has ever included Beautify.

So happy with myself :yup . I installed it correctly (Must have I think) It is showing up same as before
:coolguy (doing a happy dance)

I only recently used this filter on some photos for my daughter. She only had ordinary snaps taken at her wedding so I jazzed them up a bit. Thanks for the person who made this plugin.

(I still don't remember going through what I just did before to install it, unless it can be done a lot quicker.)
