I've downloaded gimp a couple of times in the past and messed around with it but couldn't get anywhere so I removed it. I guess when all else fails, read the instructions....actually that was kind of confusing too....this last time I thought I would go to youtube and type in "gimp tutorial"...that's what it finally took for me....I started watching tutorials for beginners and I took off....well, as a beginner, but its coming and I have found several uses for it already...enhancing old faded photos, making "fun" photos by cutting and pasting, figuring out how I want to redo my front porch (I took a picture of my house and then cut and pasted different porch posts on the photo, really helps!) Anyway, greetings!

Me too... I had it way back when it was still called "The Gimp", and I wondered why all these windows were open on my screen so I deleted it thinking it was a piece of junk.

drakesmth: welcome to gimp chat ! gimp can look a bit weird and confusing when you first meet it, but once you've started to get to know it it will be a good friend. i have used it off and on for many years (like molly, i started when it was still talked of as "the gimp") but more regularly for about four years. and when i joined gc i thought i had learned a fair bit about gimp already - but, wow, was i wrong ! this place taught me so much that i had never figured out on my own.

Thanks for the welcome, guys! Molly, actually the Great Smokies are in the very eastern part of the state, I live close to Nashville "Music City" as they call it, which is in the middle of the state, mostly "rolling" hills around here, but beautiful...
