hello all, i'm new to gimp. been watching a lot of you tube videos to learn how to do all this stuff. it's easy when your watching

anyway, i haven't seen anyone talk about this yet but i found a trick that comes in handy especially when selecting text font.

just point your mouse over any dialog box, or button and spin the value to what you want.

i used to use photostudio 2000 because i got it for free when i bought a scanner way back in 2000- and when you used the text input you could browse the "text style or font" on the screen like MS-WORD with the text high-lighted.

well this didn't work for me in gimp, until i found that you can point over the "Text" BUTTON in the tool options and spin your mouse wheel and the text that you've written on the screen shows you what you've selected.

by the way, i've subscribed to "tutor4u" and "photoadvanced" and "VscorpianC" on you tube

Yes, that works well, I use that feature a lot. You have to select and hi-lite the text first to make this work, then use your scroll wheel on the Text button to see all the different fonts to choose from.

selected or not it will change. i tried selecting one word of a sentence to see if only that word would change, but i found the entire sentence still changes. to change only the selected word i found i have to type the font in the box contextual box on the screen- not very user friendly.
