Welcome to Gimpchat China. At first it seems overwhelmingly hard but if you run through the beginner tutorials, it will soon be much easier.

Hi china_mom, welcome to GC. Don't be afraid to play and experiment a lot. If you make a mistake, you can always undo it. As the others have said, try some of our tutorials and ask lots of questions. We are only too happy to help.

Welcome to GimpChat China_Mom, Gimp is such a powerful tool, there is so much you can do with it that it seems daunting when you first start it up but I echo the advice above about trying out a few beginner tutorials whether you're into manipulating images or drawing/painting your own.
