Hi there. I'm from South Africa... I am an online English teacher but also a webdesigner, although my GIMP skills are totally lacking...!

Gimp is wonderful. I have some suggestions though, TWO things that I think MUST be incorporated into a super-potent gimp.

1. Make a "gimp action recorder" so that Scripts are automatically generated so that after you perform your sequence of actions, you can stop it, and it is recorded into a script. This could do wonders for the GIMP community.

2. Make GIMP a video editor so all the effects can be applied to a timeline. These videos should be capable of being layered.

And, THATS IT. I have no other advice to give. I wonder if anyone will or can do this? Or if such fundamental suggestions could be taken seriously.
Much respect and love to all!

Smoofzilla!

Welcome to GimpChat.
If you search you can probably find a script for just about anything in GIMP. :)

Start here - viewforum.php?f=9

A macro recorder is a long standing request. Might happen in the future.

Totally disagree with that. Gimp is not all-things-to-all-mankind. The more complexity, the greater the difficulty in maintaining the code. Remember it is kept up-to-date by enthusiasts & volunteers.
There is already an animation plugin, GAP that AFAIK is not maintained but might be worth a look at. Then there are video editors that are starting to incorporate gmic code. Still very limited at the moment.

A quick render with flowblade video editor using the gmic cartoon fllter.
