Hello,

I'm Zvonko. I recently retired from 37 years working as a software developer.

To keep busy, I'm learning things I didn't have time before. One of them is image manipulation. It's always impressed me how talented people are with Photoshop, but I wasn't about to pay all that money. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Gimp existed AND for free!

I'm reviewing and digitizing a lot of old photos and know I'll need to learn how to clean, enhance and combine photos.

Hopefully, I won't be too much of a bother to you experts. Gotta start somewhere.

We do have some experts who come in and hold our hands from time to time (documentation and guides), although some drop bread crumbs and prefer you follow the crumbs versus the hand holding. In any case, no one is deliberately steered in the wrong direction (on purpose). As Lyle likes to say: "There's a thousand ways to skin a cat." So having said all that, many are certain to offer you ideas that get you to the same place, in different ways.

I'm definitely familar with that phrase. Especially in IT. Ask 10 developers how to do something and we'll give you 10 perfectly valid solutions.
