Hi there,

Just regged a moment ago looking for some tutorials. I consider myself a hobbyist when it comes to comp. graphics and digital art -- a rather in-depth hobbyist (sometimes stay up till 4 a.m. with this "hobby" of mine), but a hobbyist nonetheless. (I do this, y'know, "4 the lulz.") :cool

I use GIMP because Adobe is too expensive and Paint.net not as flexible as I'd like it to be. (And Adobe's mascots are the Periodic Table, which isn't nearly as cute as Wilber is.) A lot of the stuff I've made that people I know have found very impressive, I've made with GIMP. I don't get into the coding or scripting part of it (way too hard!), but do enjoy just fooling around from time to time. So of course there is more I could learn, but I'd rather figure it out through trial and error rather than spend time pouring over books and manuals. In other words, I like to just "grab a properly chilled beverage and enjoy."

But if there were one thing I'd love to know about GIMP, it'd be...
What kind of animal is Wilber anyway? (Whatever he is he needs a plushie like some people have done with eMule!) :gimp

Wilber is a coyote. He's GIMP's mascot.

Hi Scetch welcome to gimp chat. I had used patnet in the past but for some reason I can't use it some of the filters on it wasn't working. So I had a good look at Gimp and was pleased with it. It's a lot more advance than p/net I think.
