You didn't mention your platform so if you use Windows...
Might i suggest downloading the Gimp-2.7.5 version from Partha.com
He has added GAP, GMIC, and a few other nice features/plug-ins to his compiles.
Also his Python is embedded into the portable versions so even if you do not have python installed it will not matter.You will still be able to use Python plug-ins.
