Just a short note to say hello!

I just dropped in to say hi to some old friends but this looks like an amazing site you have here and very talented people too. Reading this stuff, even 'tutorials', I almost feel like I am reading a different language!

Right now I would just like to be able to make some fancy looking text with a nice background.

anyone know the song, Colder Weather by Zac Brown Band? Not to mention, "Goodby in her eyes" !

I would like to be able to really dress up the words. "Gypsy Soul" and/or "Born for Leaving"

Like to have a car tag or something airbrushed if it was good enough.

Well, that is the idea, anyway.

Gimp also has some logo scripts you could try out.

He has some good links to gimp etc. I have Gimp 2.8 on Windows 7 32 bit, but you could probably try 2.8.2 as they are already into the experimental stages of 2.9

don't want to reinvent the wheel here, which tutorial would you suggest for someone who wants to make a cool logo?

It depends on what you think is cool. They all have a purpose you just have to experiment. I suggest, when you use them, if offered save layers. You can get very different results by playing with text, colors, size, backgrounds, etc., within each one. Just have some fun and see what you can come up with :cool
