Hello to all users of this site. I am a new user of Gimp and am struggling to understand how to successfully print pictures with it :(
I am a new user also to Linux and currently use an old Dell Inspiron 531 computer running Linux Mint 17 (cinnamon) (64bit version). I have a relatively modern printer which is a Canon mg5550 working via the linux files downloaded from Canon.
My problem is that I am unable to print 4" x 6" photographs that are borderless and I would like to enter a dialog with someone with the knowledge to help out.
Also despite timezone shown I am in the GMT zone which is not listed in the dropdown list of timezones and by this omission I deduce that this is a site located in the USA.
Can anyone help or should I post in another section.

Since you are using linux, you could try the gutenprint plugin. It will be in the Mint repo for installation.

The Canon MG5550 is listed as supported, Several years since I swore off Canon, maybe their linux support has improved. I use a Brother inkjet now.

I am in the UK if that is your timezone. Going to be a bit of a learning curve for you if new to both linux and Gimp.

Gutenprint looks like this.

Welcome to Gimp Chat Tikiman

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is often interchanged or confused with Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). But GMT is a time zone and UTC is a time standard. https://www.timeanddate.com/time/gmt-utc-time.html

Try UTC Western European

Must thank all for responses. I tried gutenprint plug in. When I clicked print all seemed to be okay but there was no output so just uninstalled it.
I have in fact managed to print a 6"x 4" successfully by mucking about with page settings.
Also re "UTC" it doesn't really bother me what the time is on a website but "Time zones" are more simple than "UTC" and more readily understandable.
