hello hello i'm lucy and have just started using Gimp to try and convert my illustrations into vector images. i've used it for a while to do some simple editing on my photos but would like to expand my horizons! :paint

Hi Afterberl and welcome to GC.
There's another program out there that you might want to have a look at, if you haven't already. It's called "Inkscape" a professional vector graphics editor for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It's also free and open source and much better for creating vector images with then Gimp. ;)

I agree with Wallace Inkscape is for vector Gimp is for raster, they are a good team.
